More about Kaouthar?

Kaouthar is born in Tunisia, she grew up on the mediterranean coast, where she, as a young person, turned naturally into music and dancing.

She is a certified pedagogue and studied belly dance and Arab Folkloric Dances with the best instructors that the world of bellydance has to offer. She studied as well Dance therapy and ‘Expression Corporelle’.

She was lead by her passion for Belly Dance to thoroughly investigate the many aspects of this art.  By traveling to various Middle Eastern and North-African countries and through research, observation and practice, she assimilated the different styles of traditional dances, and developped her own style, a unique mixture of classical and modern oriental dance.

After an exciting and ecclectic career (Tunis/Paris/San Francisco) Kaouthar settled in Amsterdam where she enjoyes living and working.

Kaouthar’s Women Empowerment: United we (belly)dance!

Kaouthar’s vision about belly Dance:

“ For me belly dance is a natural tool for Women Empowerment: this dance is more than 3000 years old and is meant as a celebration of the Goddess ‘Primal Power’ (oerkracht), present is in each one of us.

Isn’t ab
out time women participate actively in ruling the planet? Isn’t about time women step proudly in the arena of power, not as duplicates of men, but as playful goddesses who wish to participate in innovating and changing the world... with their unique and special feminine touch!

I am passionate about creating bridges of communication and exchange between both Western and Arab cultures, using the spirit of the music and the dance.

My wish is to preserve and present these ancient arab dances before they disappear, due to modernisation and/or fundamentalism. It's a valuable human heritage that must be saved              from extinction! ”
